Joanne Lott, CPA, CMA

Joanne Lott, CMAJoanne graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1986 and attained her Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation in 1987. She started at Aetna Canada in 1986 in the internal audit department. This position was a good starting point as she developed an understanding of the insurance business and developed great relationships with the managers, Vice-Presidents and staff in the operating and corporate divisions. Joanne held various progressive management roles at Aetna during her tenure. She became very proficient at managing acquisition integration projects as well as systems conversion projects so much so she was being sought out to take on such projects by Aetna’s management team.†She was also heavily involved in the company’s charity and social events such as the United Way.

After Aetna, Joanne managed projects, on a contract basis, such as integrating an acquisition and transitioning the change to a new asset custodian for a number of her clients. In March 2002, she decided to join the family business as the Office Manager. Moving from a large corporate environment to the world of small business was quite a change for Joanne. This role has provided Joanne with more exposure to the human resource function which she has always had a strong interest in.

Joanne has travelled with her family extensively through Europe as part of her husband's old-timers hockey team. Also, she is active in the community volunteering with organizations such as the Richmond Hill Chamber of Commerce, Run for the Cure and Hike for Hospice. She also volunteered extensively at a local school, including assisting students with math and English and sitting on the school council. She held the positions of Chair and Treasurer over the years on the school council.
